2017 at Wayward Gourmet: A (Crazy) Year in Review

If 2018 is half as busy as 2017 was, we're in store for a real treat!

I was going to write a long-form narrative of all that went on with us in 2017, but it was going to be considerably long-winded and, frankly, just too much. So much has happened with us that I figured it would make more sense to list the highlights.

In no particular order:

  1. We got married! Liz and I had been dating for 3 years before we officially tied the knot. About a year into our relationship we started Wayward Gourmet and never looked back. Working side by side with your significant other has had its challenges, but we wouldn't have it any other way!
  2. We started selling on Amazon: It's hard to talk about online retail without Amazon being included in the conversation. We realized that although we were slowly but surely making strides selling on our own website, we knew that the convenience of Amazon and free 2-day shipping was undeniable. The process of selling food items on Amazon has a considerable amount of hoops to jump through compared to, say, baseball caps, and for good reason. It took us about 6 months working with Amazon to make sure that our products were in line with their specification to sell in the "Grocery" section of their store. Long story short, we met their requirements and it's been go go go ever since! On a side note, depending on when you're reading this, we've had a hard time keeping up with inventory on Amazon during the holiday season. We're working on replenishing everything and will have all of it back on Amazon ASAP. It's literally Liz and myself in our commercial kitchen bottling all of this, so things have been...fun!
  3. We had triplets: Ok, can 3 new sauces constitute as triplets? Maybe not, but the introduction of our BBQ sauce line has been super exciting! We look forward to expanding beyond 3 sauces to at least 5 in 2018!

We want to thank everyone who has supported us and made 2017 such an amazing year. It has been a wild ride but we wouldn't have it any other way! We are super excited for what's in store for 2018.

Stay tuned!!

Liz & Pat
